Step-by-step Working Holiday Visa Application Guide

It only takes 10-15 minutes to fill out forms online to get your working holiday visa.

To make it super easy for you, we've put together a step by step guide for an ONLINE application. New Zealand immigration can provide you with a guide if you need to submit a paper application.

There are four main steps; New Zealand immigration website registration, Visa Application, Confirmation and Payment.

Step 1: New Zealand immigration website registration

Make sure you have your passport handy.​

• Click on “register here”.

• Click on “Next”.

• Create your profile.

This will be used to apply for your visa. Make sure to use a secure password and set a secret question you can easily answer. If you forget your password, this is the only way to reset.

• Fill out the form.

• Click “register”

Check your email inbox for a confirmation email with a link.

Step 2: Apply for the Visa

• Click the link in your email from immigration New Zealand or here.

• Log in using your username and password from step 1 to apply for your Working Holiday Visa.

• Under 'Online Service', click 'Working Holiday' on the right side.

You will be able to see if you are eligible by selecting your country.

• Select your country to see if you are eligible.

If your country does not offer a Working Holiday Visa with New Zealand or if the quotas have been reached you will know it here.

• Now click on “Apply Now”.

Ensure to fill out every field of the tabs.

Step 3: Confirmation

• Once you’re done, every tab should appear with a green logo.

• Save and submit your application.

​You have now submitted your Working Holiday Visa request. To finish the process you have to pay the administration fee.

Step 4: Payment

• Click on “Pay Now”.

• Get your credit card, VISA or MasterCard only.

• Click on “secure payment site” to “Payment Gateway”.

• Enter your name in the box.

Be careful, that will be the only way to prove your payment, so be sure to enter the same name that you use for your Visa request.

• Then click “OK”.

​You are now on the Westpac Payment website.

• Click on the VISA or MasterCard logo.

• You now have to enter your details and click “Pay Now”.

You will soon receive confirmation of payment.​

The end!

You should receive your Visa in the next 7 days. Then you will be ready to go!

Be sure to print a copy of the Visa Email and your 12 month Medical and Travel Insurance and bring them with you on your arrival into New Zealand.
